Wine Country

htDid you know that New Mexico is the oldest wine country in America by about 200 years? It’s true — the history of wine in New Mexico is as rich and complicated as its colorful landscapes, and the flavor of its history plays out in the wines. From robust reds to crisp whites and everything in between, there’s something for wine enthusiasts in every corner of the state.

New Mexico is home to more than 40 wineries and vineyards that produce more than tens of thousands of gallons of wine annually, impacting the state’s revenue by millions of dollars. Those fortunate enough to savor a glass from our rich landscape will taste centuries of captivating history, and the passion of local winemakers who didn’t give up. Learn more at the link below.

Las Cruces

Las Cruces is home to New Mexico State University and also hosts two wine festivals annually. The Harvest Wine Festival is held over Labor Day weekend, and features wines from New Mexico wineries, a grape stomping contest, several concerts throughout the weekend, food from several local vendors, and related shopping. The Southern New Mexico Wine Festival is held over Memorial Day weekend and also exclusively features New Mexico wines, local foods, and live music. Additionally, the Southern New Mexico Wine Festival features the University of Wine, short educational sessions which teach patrons about proper food and wine pairings. Both festivals are held at the fairgrounds just west of the city.
